Before you start
- An affiliate account, which our team enables for you
Tip
Give each tracking link a Label that names where you shared it, so the Referral Links card shows which source sends buyers.
CLSD has an affiliate program for people who send us new buyers. This article covers how to join, what the Affiliate page shows once you are in, and how a coupon code works at checkout.
Joining the program
Our team sets up affiliate accounts, so if you want to refer buyers, get in touch and we will go from there. When your account is enabled you get an email inviting you to join as an Affiliate Partner, with a Set Your Password button. That link expires in 24 hours. If you already have a CLSD account, the program is added to it.
Once enabled, Affiliate appears at the bottom of your left sidebar.
The Affiliate page
The page is headed Affiliate Dashboard. Four cards at the top show Unique Customers, Leads Referred, Active Codes, and Commission Earned. The Refresh button at the top right reloads everything.
Referral links
Referral Links lists your Primary link, which never changes, and any tracking links you add. Each link has a copy button and shows Clicks, Unique Clicks, Customers, Leads, and Commission. A buyer who arrives through one of your links and orders within 30 days is credited to you. The Privacy Policy describes how that works.
To see where your referrals come from, click New Tracking Link, give it a Label that names where you will share it, a Source (optional), and a Code. The code is generated for you, and the circular arrow button beside it draws a new one. You can also type your own, 4 to 32 characters in lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. Then click Create Link. You can edit or archive a tracking link later.
Warning
Archiving a tracking link cannot be undone.
Coupon codes
Click Create Coupon Code to make a code tied to your account. When a buyer uses it, their order is attributed to you. Pick a Discount Type (Flat Amount ($), Percentage (%), or Per Lead ($)), enter a Value up to the maximum shown next to the field, and, if you want, set Max Uses and an Expiration Date. A fourth type, Set Price Per Lead, appears only if we have enabled it on your account. It replaces Value with Target Price Per Lead ($) and Minimum Order Quantity. Leave Custom Code blank and a code is generated for you. Click Create Coupon. The Coupon Codes table lists each code with its Discount, Uses, Status (Active or Exhausted), Expires, and Created date.
Referred customers and commission
Referred Customers shows one row per buyer who paid for an order through your link or code, with Leads Referred, Commission, and First Order. You earn commission on a referred buyer's first paid order. Their later orders stay attributed to you but do not earn a second commission. Your commission is a dollar amount per lead on that first paid order. Our team sets the rate. Commission Earned at the top of the page is what you have accrued. There is no payout page in the app, so for your rate and for how and when commission is paid, email us. See Getting support.
Using a coupon code at checkout
Step 1. Enter the code
Enter the code in the Coupon Code field on the order form and click Apply. A code that has expired, hit its use limit, or does not exist shows an error instead.
Step 2. Check the order summary
A Discount line appears in your order summary, and Clear removes it.
How the discount is applied
Depending on the code, the discount is a flat amount off the order, a percentage off, a set dollar amount off each lead, or a set price per lead. Some codes require a minimum number of leads before the discount applies. Coupon codes apply to one time orders, not weekly subscriptions. Discounts cannot be combined unless a code says otherwise (see the Refund Policy). A referral link on its own does not change your price.
Frequently asked questions
Do I earn commission on every order a referred buyer places?
No. You earn commission on a referred buyer's first paid order. Their later orders stay attributed to you but do not earn a second commission.
How do I get paid?
Commission Earned on your Affiliate page is what you have accrued. There is no payout page in the app, so ask us how and when it is paid. See Getting support.
Why does my coupon code show an error at checkout?
The code has expired, hit its use limit, or does not exist. Check its Expires date and Uses in the Coupon Codes table on your Affiliate page.
Can a buyer use my code on a weekly subscription?
No. Coupon codes apply to one time orders, not weekly subscriptions. A referral link on its own does not change the buyer's price either.
